This has probably been brought up before. But Erik is ordering new flights and if there is enough interest he might order slim / Coal crackers this time. Last time he ordered Standard, Pear / tear drop.
So what style flight do you shoot with?

Coal crackers but it doesn't show to be an option in the poll. I would definetly buy some if they were available.

Hehe... Yeah, after reading the post you would expect to see slims or coal crackers as one of the options up there! Wink

    http://www.sewa-darts.com/modules.php?name=Surveys&op=results&pollID=91&mode=thread&order=1&thold=0

This poll has been tried Smile

    Standards almost 60%
    Pears 24%
    Coal Crackers 16%

Pretty much the standards rule the roost but a few use the others Smile

I use pear shape flights. I find they are more aerial dynamic for my throw.

Coal cracker. I bought standards and trimed them down but it was a pain so I quit doing it.

I still use standard Wink .

Looking at this thread I feel I am a minority.

Sometimes I use Retros, but nobody else seems to use them, so I fear Erik will never offer those Sad .

BlackBull sold them as Retros in different designs, but I think they are similar to the big Vortex flights.

I don´t know whether there is a difference Shocked .

I use standard flights, but my question is: what's the difference? I'm about to order some more supplies and was considering adding some pearl/tear flights.

    I'm a slim, coalcracker also.

Went off the Arrowheads as they didn't last 3 legs.

    Barjo,
I like flights that are smaller than the standards. There's less for the incoming dart/s to hit and deflect of off. By trying the smaller flights I did give up some stability on the dart. ie, more wobble. My release needed to be better to throw the smaller flights, especially the slims/coalcrackers. I've pretty much settled in on the pears. They seem to offer the best of both worlds for me. Smaller than the standards and more "stable" than the slims.

    Later,
    Jeff

I shoot kites, and nothing else will do. They seem to have the ideal combo of less drag than a standard, yet they stabilize the dart just as well as a standard. And because of their shape, I rarely have flight deflections. But when I do, the flight of the incoming dart just pops off as I use nylon shafts without any type of ring or crown. As of now I'm using the cheapest possible plain black polys and a set will last me several weeks. (and I chuck a lot of darts)

I use the Harrows style 'Standard' which is slimmer than the usual standard. they just seem to work better for me.

Thanks, Jeff. That helps a lot. I decided to order my ususal standard flights and added 3 sets of pear to try them out. Like Powder, I use nylon shafts and the flights pop off, but that's better (IMO) than slicing through the one in the way.
