I'm getting a new dartboard this weekend as mine is 10 year old. The Blade III or Eclipse Pro are the same price and my local store is one any better than the other?

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these boards but if it was my money it would be the pro eclipse for me. Its the best board according to sewa and If there is something wrong with it when you get it or you have any trouble with it(which can happen no matter what one you buy) there is no trouble with getting fixed up by your retailer or unicorn itself stands by its product like no other company i have ever seen...

I've only played on the Blade III at a bar and own the Unicorn Eclipse Pro but had to give my vote to the Blade III.

Unicorn is a decent board but the quality issues are NOT an illusion and appear pretty widespread. Until I hear from Ed Lowey that something is changed I'll purchase something else next time....mine (and others) just didnt last for crap with average use. I know Erik raves about them and others too....but deep down I believe many support them because of their awesome customer service and superb darts...not the board.

Again, I love the company and buy their products on reputation alone....but this board just doesn't stand up to any use. Now I must say my opinion is based entirely on my experience and from what I've read on here.....haven't owned a Bade but I'd try them first.

I've had 4 of the Eclipse Pros and until things change, once the last of these are gone my next board with be either a blade III or a Nodor board.

Sounds like a toss up for me. I don't think I notice any difference between them other than durability. I haven't heard anything bad about the Blade III. Has anyone have any problems with the Blade III?

Just put a new Blade III in our pub 1 month ago so far so good! Had a Nodor Supawire before - killed it in 2 1/2 months! Bulls are a little tough on bounce -outs however!

    Blade III or Eclipse Pro.
Presuming you order one in and they are the way they are supposed to be. Center bull and good sisals. I have to say the Eclipse is a better board. Ironically the blades on the blades are not great and easily bend. JMO

Then its a no brainer imo. The Eclipse just needs a once over before you buy. The durability of the board is great. A dart pub over here has 4 Blades up and pretty much all of them have a mashed wires. I was there the night they put them up. And by the end there was 2 mashed T20's. Being that it was league I know there were no baseball throwing going on.

i own a blade 3 and two eclipse pros. both of my eclipse pros have no quality issues but i have seen some terrible sisal problems listed on this site.

the blade 3 that i have has a wire lift problem see the photos. i have tried to beat the wires down with a dead blow hammer and when that did not work a regular hammer with no success.

the eclipse has a superior embedded wire system. the blade 3 has a better cork area and better sisal but wire lifting of the triple ring. usually the blade is more expensive $65 vs $49-45 for a eclipse. if you can inspect the eclipse before buying to make sure the sisal is OK - i like the eclipse.

Sonny's post is almost exactly my experience and suggestion.

Emphasis on inspecting ANY board before buying.

Then a Bandit (owned one and it was great for 2 years of constant abuse)

I think I'm getting a bandit. I've heard such mixed reviews on all other boards, but the only think I've heard about the bandit is that dart's "fall out". I don't see that being a problem with a little sandpaper use.

I wouldn't mind checking out the Nodor Supamatch, anyone have some strong input on that one? My supawires board has some serious problems with flattening wires and color bleeding. Wonder if all is better with the Supamatch.

Might get me the Unicorn Pro Trainer, too.

I'd go with the Blade for bristle quality and the Eclipse Pro for wire.

The blade's wire's SUCK if you using them for regular practise, when left in a pub for a day you should see ther outcome on the blade wire's! The blade's bristle is the same as a Nodor though (same manufacturer in kenya)
    meaning QUALITY sissal.

The eclipse wire is awesome however the bristle quality unless examined can vary, for out of the box pleasure go with the Eclipse as i love the colour's of the board and the wire!

(did anyone ever get to see a white spider Eclipse, these looked aaaaaaawesome brand new!)

I have both and though the BladeIII rarely gets used (that ought to be a hint) and the Eclipe Pro is 1 1/2 years old, when the Eclipse pro is bagged I'll buy another one and continue to use it rather then the basically unused and new BladeIII.

Why? I don't like bounce outs and the BladeIII gives plenty.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, the eclipse is by far the superior board. The blade 3 suffers once the wires start to bend, which makes it far more likely to give bounceouts. I've hammered away at my eclipse for over 18 months now (at least 30 mins every day) and only had 11 bounceouts....I don't think any other board comes close to matching that.

I rotate my eclipse once a month and it is starting to get a bit worn, but it'll do another 6 months yet. It's not like its costing that much if you only have to buy a new board once every 2 years!!!

Must get an eclipse pro trainer next!!!!

    I played 32 games of 501 today on a Blade 3... 9 bounce outs!
I usually play on an Eclipse Pro... usually no bounce outs. This confirms why I only use the Eclipse Pro at home and at our 501 singles league...and why I gave away the only Blade 3 I ever bought... after two practice sessions which saw darts all over the floor. I don't understand why people like the Blade 3.

I am testing a Blade III at the moment as well.
I think it´s a really good board, it´s fabricated very exact, the bulls eye is really in the middle of the bull, the segments are very exact.
The spider doesn´t come out the board, what always happened till now with my Unicorn eclipse boards, the sisal doesn´t behave strange.

Funny enough, I nevertheless liked the Eclipse board better.
The sisal, though it always behaved strange after a short time, is of annother quality. The Blade III feels somehow very hard, it might be more durable, but I prefer the Unicorn sisal.
