I have a question for everyone. What was the official ruling as far as splitting the 601's? I am not a captain and was not present for the meeting in which this was discussed. At this point in the season it's pretty much a moot point but it seems week in and week out we have a debate amongst our team. Is anyone besides us, actually splitting the 601's?

I have to say I can't stand the format while others on my team prefer the splitting of it. We take a vote every Tuesday to determine where we want to play the 601's and honestly it's ridiculous.

I can only hope that MMDL makes a concrete rule to keep the 601's together from now on, if it hasn't already.

The BOD has voted that come the Fall 07 the 601 will be played at the beginning of the night. This should of been told to all captains at their captains meeting. As for this season it was up to both team as to how they wanted to play it. If both teams agree they can play them at the top of the night. I do know some teams are still sticking with playing them split as it is on the match report.

"MMDL BOARD" and "CONCRETE RULES" don't mix. It's like drinking and driving. They enforce what they want and blow off what is considered bothersome.

Example: On more than one occasion in my MMDL career, I've tried to get action from the board in the form of penalties for unsportsmanlike activities and/or excessive tardiness to matches. This type of stuff is preventable with a little common courtesy. Not once, however, has a team ever been penalized when they really should've been. Yet, they'll snatch points from your team in a nanosecond if you forget to write you team name on the match report, which is a completely understandable human error. MMDL had it's priorities all screwed up.

Am I allowed to have a discussion about this here? Will I get banned from MMDL for speaking out? Am I in the wrong thread?

Yes you can discuss it here, I dont think you will be banned, unless of course you hang out with Dwalsh. Smile. As far as threads, this might not be the best one, as we try to keep the focus on the thread topic, but I am sure if you look into the depths of this forum, you will find much of what your talking about. Just to inform you that in regards to unsportsmen like conduct and excessive tardiness - should be taken up with your Area Director....

As far as the point deductions go - the AD's do not have control over that - it is a seperate function all together. The points are deducted due to lack of information on the reports.....among other things as well.

Obviously we will use up the current inventory before we go ahead and print more.....even though the rule has changed for next season.

Emre, match order for a long time in MMDL was in this order..2 games of 601 (3 players per team), 3 crickets (2 players per team), 6 301 games (single player best of 3).

    Last fall it became a 601 first, the 3 crickets, the 6 301's, a 601.

    This fall it will change to 2 601, 3 crickets, 6 301.

    Hope this helps.

What if both teams don't agree? Who and what decides what format to play?

If both teams do not agree than the 601 are split 1 at the beginning and 1 at the end.

You missed my point. I had tried taking these things up with ADs and the Board years ago. They didn't care. All they cared about was whether or not somebody misspelled "Country B" or something STUPID LIKE THAT! I stopped trying to get results from the ADs and the Board very long time ago. I was quite literally conditioned to not even try.

OK, thanks for the clarification. And how exactly splitting a 601 game would make a difference? For me playing the same game back to back or one at the beginning and one at the end is the same. Except maybe the amount of alcohol I consume in between may effect how I throw at the end, but since everybody else is doing the same i simply assume the level of the players would be similar...

Could make a difference for some teams.

Say you have a couple teammates that work late or have trouble getting to a match by starting time. You play them in the last 601 if you are going to play them there for instance.

Keeps more people at the bar at the end of the night, which means more $$ for the bar.

Instead of a 1 on 1 at the end if it's a 5-5 tie, it's more of a team thing to win that last game.

Back to Back is the way to go. Mr. FuneeGuy needs alot more posts than just 3 to earn a coveted spot on this roster.

Chris, Don't you think that it is a "Team Thing" to win every game? There is no "I" in team. It is a team effort in every match. The team effort comes from either your partners in 601 or Cricket,or in the case of 301, your team mates rooting you on during your singles match. I myself rather see the best player on my team trying to win the final match than 3 of us with one or two of us not shooting well.Just my opinion Brother. Very Happy

Why continue to print them at all? Why not have an online posting? I can understand that there could be some concern with accuracy in reporting, but at the very least you could have a one part form that both captains sign and maintain for verification in the event of a dispute. A one part form is certainly much less expensive than a 3 part form, let alone the postage cost.

I don't dis-agree...but we are not ready at this juncture to go forward with something like that. Yes, it has been brought up in discussion, but that was it. Someone would have to sit down and write up a proposal - thinking it through it's entirety. From start to finish - pro's and con's, etc.
Do I think it's one of the next steps in the future, absolutely!

    Baby steps....baby steps...LOL.

Mark Ingoldsby could sit down and write up the proposal. Wink Wink Wink

Then he could print up about 10,000 copies, one for each shooter! Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Then he could vote it down to stay with the current printing situation! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
