i have thrown a variety of darts over the years.. probably a mix between fixed and movable points.. and have a question as to which mp you like.. and why..

i personally like the collar style mp (hammerhead, powerpoint, dmi).. as opposed to the thru the barrel style that laser and voks use.. only because it allows you to use a variety of shafts based on your preference..

but my dilemma lies with this.. i want to throw a mp dart with a thin point.. do you put a different brand points in your darts.. like using a dmi retractor point, or an impactor point in a hammerhead dart... ?

i priced out the points locally and there is no real price difference between the hammerhead point and the dmi point.. both about 15$ with collars.. i just prefer the thinner point for grouping reasons and to sneak around wires..

please let me know if you have used these.. and if you recommend them.. or should i just stay with the hammerhead point in the hammerhead dart..

    thanks
    pete

I personally use the power points. I like the whole mechanism itself, I get very few bounce outs. Although they do tend to get loose over time. Oh well...

My darts are MP darts. I have no idea who the manufacturer was. Only 6 sets were ever made. I've got Hammerhead tips in them and the darts I shot with before were power points. I prefer the power point tips but can not get them into a hammerhead fashioned barrel. Nevertheless, I am solving my problem. Watch the dart championships and point out the pros using MP systems. I have sent my favorite dart to Canada to be coppied. I'm going to have a set of fixed tip darts constructed from my MP darts. I'm switching to fixed tip if I can find the right dart.

Crash, I have a couple sets of MP's with the DMI point. No complaints whatsoever..they also have a little more flex to them than a Hammerhead point. I recommend them and I think they're at Woodway's.

That said my favorite set are my Python MP's which use the ELC style. Too bad they didn't make a thin point for those.

I use the hammerhead on my MPs. Tacheon, I moved away from the MP darts for the same reason. The pros just dont use them. In the mean time I have found that I enjoy the fixed much better. The think the amount of shots that stick because an MP was used is small. The hammerheads would eventually loosen up and annoy the heck out of me.

Ditto Tae. I don't used MP darts anymore. Gave them up over a year ago. I did however, use hammer heads for a long time and liked them best.

I've used hammerheads for years, over the past year I've run into some boards during league play that are in terrible condition and my darts seem to bounce out a great deal (I was not having that problem at home on at our sponsors bar) so I switched to a heavier fix point set of darts. I rarely use my hammerheads these days.

I love my hammerheads and will continue to use and will probably try another mp type dart but at the moment I'm throwing with the unicorn phil taylor sigs and despite my poor showing thus far this season in league, I feel like I'm right around the corner from domination.
one thing to note though is I've seen more bounce outs with the fixed point than mp's.
