Continuing on with the theme of hitting what I'm aiming at, here's another new practice game that can be played alone or against opponents. It's a variation of the usual Around The World type, but misses will have you moving backwards instead of progressing!

One nice thing about this game is that it can be adjusted for any level of player.

The start is the same for all variations, you need to hit a bull (single or double - though you can change this too). If you miss, you don't change targets, you just still need to hit a bull. Once you've hit the bull you start on the main targets.

The targets are the numbers 1 thru 20 in sequence and another bull at the end.

The penalty for missing a target is you have to go back to the previous target. Missing the 1's means starting over and having to hit the initial bull again (as before, missing the bull doesn't change the target - you just need to keep shooting until you hit another bull).

Where the game can be altered is in what counts as hitting the target. The basic game is every dart you throw must hit inside the target pie you're aiming for (i.e., it doesn't matter if you hit a single, a double or a triple). So you can move forward three targets if you hit each dart, or move backwards three targets (unless you end up at the bull as detailed above) if you miss all three darts. Here are some examples:

6's (hit), 7's (hit), 8's (hit) - Shoot at the 9's to start your next turn
6's (hit), 7's (hit), 8's (miss) - Shoot at the 7's to start your next turn
6's (hit), 7's (miss), 6's (hit) - Shoot at the 7's to start your next turn
6's (miss), 5's (hit), 6's (hit) - Shoot at the 7's to start your next turn
6's (miss), 5's (miss), 4's (miss) - Shoot at the 3's to start your next turn

Variations (from easier to harder) include:

    - Using up to three darts to hit a target
    - Having to hit anywhere in the target area (this is the basic game)
    - Having to hit only the large single area of a target
    - Having to hit only the smaller, skinny single area of a target
    - Using up to three darts to hit the double area of a target
    - Using up to three darts to hit the triple area of a target
    - Having to hit the double area of a target with one dart
    - Having to hit the triple area of a target with one dart (I'd leave this one for Mr. Part! Laughing )

Additional options include starting with the 20's and going down or just using the cricket numbers (which might be good for three darts to hit a triple).

That's it. Let me know what you think! Wink
