I again fought myself through Dan Peek's book "To the point" and now wonder whether anybody here really plays dartball???

Or knows where it still is played???

Hey, I noticed your email address and had to ask if you drive one?

Anyway, welcome to the site! and good question? I've never heard of 'dartball' unless it refers to those Velcro covered balls kids use to hit a dartboard like target?

dartball is another word for american darts(widdys). they call it dartball because you are playing baseball. 1st turn is at the #1 2nd turn @ 2 till you get to the#9 ( 9th innings )add up all your points . the one with the most points wins. never played but I read this in a book .they still play it in philedelphia, new jersey places like that

Peek writes it is much nearer baseball then American style darts, it is played on different boards - sometimes is on the other side of an American dart board.
It is played which much bigger darts - number two's.

According to Peek it was once very popular and today is still played in the Midwest, along the Canadian border and in Florida and Arizona. And often it is played in church leagues...

They also play dartball in the Midwest, like Wisconsin, I googled and found a couple websites with more info:

    http://www.widartball.com/

    http://www.dartballusa.com/

I've never played this or American, never seen evidence of either game played here in New England, we are dominated by steel tip.

Yea, that's interesting, I've never heard of it.

And to answer your question, no, I don't drive a cooper. It's my grandmothers maiden name and her birthday is 11/14/14 so I just combined it all and came up with it.

Thank you for the welcome! Shizzill's been yapping to me about it for years so I figured I'd join and see what it was all about. So far, I've joined Flight School and am very excited!!

    Dan William Peek
"To the Point..the story of Darts in America"

    http://www.amazon.com/To-Point-America-Including-History/dp/1891708236

**thought this was an excellent read. Learned tons about different geographic darts areas in the U.S. > it's a must read for those that want a deeper understanding of the history of darts in the U.S.**

--this along with George Silberzahn "How to master the sport of darts"
    >which has amazing first person stories from most of the top U.S. players in the 60's,70's, early 80's to give you more historical perspective

So really no one hear ever has played it???

That's interesting as Mr. Peek claims there are still a lot of people around playing it...
Might be it has changed in the meantime?

I've never played the Widdy style baseball darts, but my father in law used to play in a league many years ago (this is probably 20 years ago or so in the northern suburbs of NYC), and he even gave me an old Widdy reversable board and darts thats hanging in my garage.

At least around here (in NY Westchester/Putnam/Dutchess counties) Ive never seen a board or anyone playing out at a bar or pub.

I played baseball darts in Ct, and NY. I knew it as North American darts. The board was diamond shaped, and was numbered 1 thru 9, with single wedges, and double wedges. We used the wooden darts with the feathers. The oche was shaped like a half circle so you could move around, as it was easy to block your target with those big wooden darts.
