The $12,000-$20,000 would be just for 1 open singles event.

There would probably be 2 such events (501 & Cricket) on a given weekend along with a blind draw and an open doubles.

The 501 singles would most likely be best of 11, 15 in the final.
The Cricket singles would most likely be best of 7, 11 in the final.

Understand completely about the travel part, that's why I'm asking the question. I'm just at the information gathering part of things, but hopefully things work out for the best.

So, hopefully there would be local and travel dates involved in several parts of the country at various times during the year Very Happy

Obviously a few crucial details are missing, but I'm just trying to gather a general sense on interest and costs at this point. More to come soon.

This sounds a lot like what Catfish tried to do a couple years ago with a traveling long format series. Haven't seen him around SEWA in a long time though, but would be good to get his take on this.

Speaking as an also-ran, I don't want to spend more than $30 under any circumstances - I think I did spend $30 at the GVO, higher than I would really have liked, but that was to support my local people and event.

That bought me 15 round robin games and a ring-side seat to the Chris White Exhibition of three more games. Confused Laughing

So, I paid $5 for each match of three games. Not a bad deal, or standard imo.

I'd pay you $100 if I could play 60 games over a two day tourney. If it's elimination, forget it.

I'm looking at elimination, but with a consolation bracket for those not in the main money so people get a chance to play more darts.

Hmm...hadn't thought about a round robin type of thing for the fist round, ala the Grand Slam, and then into knockout. Interesting...

My goal is to get people to play more darts, not just the better players, but to also give the "local" guys who want to test their skill a chance to play for something after the first few rounds.

Coming from handball tournaments, where there was ALWAYS a consolation bracket, I still find dart tournaments a bit strange with the 1 round and gone thing. I've mentioned this before regarding other sports (sports photographer here), esp team sports. Those teams would NEVER signup for a tournament if they were guaranteed 1 match, usually has to be 3 minimum.
