I am a totally new dart player from New Brunswick Canada.

I am a poker player/writer looking to learn how to play darts. My goal is to become proficient at darts quickly, in order to be able to beat my friends that have been playing for a few years.

Welcome to the site Jeff Smile

If you hang out here between practice and matches then you'll get LOTS of info on just how to do that Wink

Have you found the practice and strategy forum and the members only section that allows you to record your progress in the practice games many use here?

All the best Jeff and welcome to the forum

to begin with you need to get a set of darts to which suits your throwing

there's so many sets of darts to pick from and price to me with my yrs of experience doesnt count to much with a set of darts as i play with Darts
which are just over £10 in price and beat all these players with there
sets of Phil Taylor and you name it well known players darts some play with

Also all the different weights and lenghth of barrels as well as dimentions of the barrels being slim to thicker barreled darts and ive played with them all
at one time , i had a set stolen i played well with over a year ago and now just began a little practice and bought a set of the same as i had and although they are a 25 gram dart and the heaviest dart ive used and a fatter barreled dart ive twice had 3 x darts in the Bullseye with them darts and so although a fat dart and some people would say after one of them in the bullseye they cant see how i could fit the other 2 darts in such but i have and also done so in a bar playing for fun throws v an older guy just throwing for the bull which was fun Smile

Meantime with say 150 left in a game of say 501 id never go for such as probs treble 20 treble 18 and dble 18 would be my way if i hit them trebles which often wont come off but its my way with say the 150 left ..Double 16 is a dble you should try to get used to leaving as often the dble 16 counts as hitting say a single 16 then leaves dble 8 then say you miss and hit the single 8 then dble 4 hit a single 4 then dble 2 and then same with hitting a single 2 would leave dble 1 , this was with dble 16 you have more options "IF " you miss and say hit the single no's ..Eric Bristow often sais such also that dble 16 can be a handy dble to leave .

Meantime Enjoy your Darts and in no time with some practice with scoring , then trebles, and round your dbles and some bulls then you can win v your friends but never over try and often can become a pain when you say dont play near as well as your practice , always a player playing at ease plays his better darts and i admit at times ive failed when trying to hard at times another reason i played better with a few drinks Very Happy But better if you can hit your good darts without such and all the best in your progress as that shall come with some practice alone as i sais above , then once you feel your doing ok then try get some games with your friends and even if you are losing then you know what you have to do to get better and in time maybe they shall be cursing you for beating them Very Happy All the best ..

    Hi everyone!

My name is Alex. I'm from US, California

I've been using an opportunity to play darts every time I saw a dartboard.

For the past year throw very many darts, probably more than in my entire life.

Besides darts I love strategy games of all sorts including board games.

From Mass. Played a bit when I was a kid then didn't throw for 15 years! Got back into it after a few games of cricket at a Christmas party and now I'm consuming darts at an alarming rate. Already need to liquidate, ha!

Hi everybody,I'm Andy, 36 from UK and have been playing seriously since September when I joined a local team as a favor and became hooked. I currently lie in the top 15 in the player stats in my first season, but also inherited the captains role. Mainly down to the knowledge and advice this site has given me, myself and my team are earning lots of respect and fear, hopefully trophies will be next!! Very Happy

    HI!

My name is AJ and I am from the Western Washington area. I hate to confess it, but since my husband has introduced me to the game, I've become mildly obsessed. Smile

I found this site, and some of its tools, through George's Flight School book and hope to be putting many of his suggestions to practice.

I am primary a soft-tip player because that is the most prevalent sort of dart in this area. My rating is a Medalist 6 and a DartsLive 8. I'm trying to roll up to a bigger number than that, but it's a work in progress. I've only been throwing for 2.5 years and I hope to throw for many more to come and maybe even work up the nerve for some big tournaments.

I look forward to talking with you all!

    AJ

    Hi everyone,
My name is Peter and I'm about to start my second full season playing. I play only soft due to the lack of steel tip in my area. "Northern NY" but I love all types of darts. I currently shoot 18 gram tiga razor with fit flight shafts and points. I'm currently average in at a 2.6 mpr and no idea for 01 as I dont have a league close to me to play in.
I play a lot of darts in my free time to unwind from the stresful day at work I'm Looking forward to learning from everyone here

Hey, name is Robert, from Las Vegas, NV in the states. I've been playing darts about 2 months. Randomly started playing at a bar I frequent and decided to buy a dartboard and some darts and practice more. Turns out my british buddy likes to play too so we usually play 3-4 times a week. Numerous games, shanghai, golf, 301, 501, cricket and what not. It's good fun since he's better than me he usually beats my ass, haha.

I just bought a Blade4 for Christmas courtesy of my mom and so far, the difference between that and my first POS $20 Unicorn board is AMAZING!

Looking forward to posting more with you all!
