Yesterday I had a fun idea to fill the summer break. I thought about a competition between Portland & Vancouver.

This competition could look like described below.

Each town has 3 captains who are nominating their teams. This teams could be 3x8 player or maybe just 3x6 player. The top players needs to be in team number one and they have to play their equal team of the other town.

Those matches we would play similar to league matches. The TC will seat their 6/8 players for 6/8 singles and than for 3/4 doubles. In case we would play with 8 people it could happen that we have to play a team game to find the winner.

To get more fun I would suggest that those matches are on any Saturday or Sunday between July and September always in one "home bar".

    So i.e.

1st WE @ Portland in the A&L on the 25th July
    2nd WE @ Irishtown 15th August
3rd WE if necessary after draw for location on the 12th September

To make it a little bit more interesting, we could add 5-10$ per player in a jackpot and the winning town gets the money to have a BBQ or "whatever"

    What do you think about?

PS: In the end the BBQ would anyway end up in great together!

Things like that are always fun.
In North Carolina, we have a North Carolina City Cup. Most of the big cities have teams, like Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Wilminton, Charlotte and so on. We play once a month on Saturdays. The end of season tournament is the top 8 finishers from the regular season and is played at the reigning champion's home bar.
We don't play for money, only pride, but the matches can get intense. Rivalries form and some of the matches become almost a vacation. When my team (Durham) goes play a team at the beach or mountains, we often go for a few days and party.

    Any other areas do this?

Thomas I don't think you realize that there are not that many players in Vancouver that are really active in summer. I believe we could possibly get 2 four person teams but any more would be tough to do. Hopefully I am wrong.

We can always try and see what happens.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

OK, that might be true that this is pretty difficult, but we probably can mix them up in Steel & Soft tip!

    4 soft-tipper and 4 steel-tipper

Just figuring out anything what works!

I think it could end in a blast!

I just wanted to revive this now that summer is sort of wrapping up and people might be interested in fitting in a fun match like this at some point before the new year.

I definitely would. It seems there are quite a few darters from the Vancouver area pretty active right now...

Lincoln City challenges the winners! Cool Or if that fails, we'll just challenge Craig. Very Happy

People from washington are incredibly weird. Which is why I think they'd match up against Portland so well. And I agree, Mike. I think pdx would enter the match as the underdog with those shooters up there. Craig would have to try and get Brian and Alan to show up for us pdxers... What about Nutter, is he up there too? That would suck... heh

Yes, leave out Bill and Alan. Laughing

You will have to excuse Thomas, he has not seen Alan and Bill play.

Forget that Isaac, you are at least a "B" player. You don't need to be beating up on all the "C" players.........
