I had the great pleasure of attending the "Dart Draw at O'Brien's Pub in Hillsboro on 4 April.

    I had a terrific time.

AMC, who organized the even made sure that the teams (it was a doubles tournament) were organized such that every one had a chance of winning.

moreover I found the atmosphere relaxed, very enjoyable and the most amazing thing about the tournament was that every single person was supportive of the other.

This was about DARTS pure and simple.

The experience was a real tonic. Just what I needed for a slump I have found myself in in recent weeks.

I can't wait for the next one.

    Sam

Thanks for coming out. It was fun knowing that all the "C" player's were going to be matched up with a A or B player. I've been in several of these's Blind draws and matched with somone who just started playing and having to go up agenest the best, You don't learn anything, and it's just not fun. I liked the little extra things that AMC did for us with the little surprize's in between games, Thanks AMC.

It was really nice to see you Sam, Thanks for the fun time you also brought.

I have to agree with everyone else, this was a FUN shoot. Andy was a gracious host and ran a flawless tourny. I wasn't aware of the A/C draw feature but I'm all for any sort of strength handicapping. As an A shooter, I get no enjoyment drawing another A player and beating up on a bunch of C/C draws. Worst yet is getting an A/A draw and getting beat by a bunch of C/C draws! It seems that today's C-level players are a whole lot better than in the past. In particular, the player of the match this Saturday was a C draw.

One of the real highlights was that Tom Harrison's son was able to play. It's great that we finally have 2 boards available to all ages. The All Ages board set up is good. It's nice that they went for the Deluxe Mounting brackets, so, the boards are and should remain solidly mounted. The lighting is a bit ad hoc but it works. I still think it would be nice to go super deluxe and get Circumluminatior lights. The three big booths against the back wall and a standing bar serparating the boards from the rest of the area makes it feel very comfortable.

    Good job.

I'd love to make it out there for one of these soon. I told AMC, but for some reason something always comes up for me the weekends these are going on.

As sort of a B/C player myself, I love the draws when I get matched up with an "A" player, but I have fun no matter what. And I like that there is a big bunch of folks from the C league who can be pretty competitive when we put our minds to it... Smile

Mainly I think I just like being involved in the LOD tourneys where there is a large enough crowd to manage some handicapping like this. It has made for some really even teams in the last few tourneys I've done.

Last I heard the next one will be on the second Saturday of the month at 3:30 PM.

The whole idea here is to have fun.

I think that having more A/B draws will possibly bring up attendence.
At the Shoot after the awards night CraigB did a good job of trying to balance the power. There were a couple of cryers, but all in all I thought is was a fun night. I hate to say it but borrowing this style from soft tip, has the chance of working quite well. Any time you offer a format that will encourage the newer players to come out, why not do it on an occasional basis??? JMHO

Just having fun is why I play, I'm the biggest kid I know. Laughing
