Here is something for you guys n gals over there to think about.

I use a black standard poly flight.

Nothing fancy or print on it, no stars and spangled banners either, just plain ol black.

    Reasons.
    1. Polymeteric flights are VERY flexible, so when a dart comes alongside them the wing of the flight bends inwards (also helps NOT to have a flight protector as it resticts the movement of the wing) letting the other dart pass. Where a more solid flight like a EG: Ruthless or metalic flight are harder, thick and more prone to staying the X shape all the time, very harmful to grouping as they deflect darts!

    2. Color Black. Reason for this is that the black dosent attract my attention when I am about to throw, release or view the board. None of these fancy shiny flights etc. Only thing I see when I step to the Oche is the board and moreso the segment of the board I am at. No need to have distractions also, a fancy flight or hard flight dosent make your game any better. Yes I her you say but it boils down to personal preferance BUT also commonsense. I wouldnt want a dart bouncing off a flight just because it is strong (to save me buying more flights) or it has pretty colours (very off-putting), so give it a go, put a very flexible set of flights in your darts and give them a test drive.. hammer the board I think there will be a few that are suprised (except those who already know this about the poly flight)
    Wink

Wazza, that was a good point you made on the thicker flights such as Ruthless and others. I do have to be very pickey about my placement of darts if I don't want to take the chance of having it deflected off the flight.
I may give the thinner flights another go, but it isn't just that the thicker flights hold up longer....they also stay in the nylon shafts better because of their thickness.

I use white colored flights because they are always a distraction. Laughing
Sounds funny, but it is true. I can always tell where my dart is and where my flight is, where with black flights, sometimes I have to really squint at the board. But the main reason I switched from black to white is when the black flights start to wear, the ridges at the ends of the flight reflect light in odd ways, depending on how frazzled or bent the end of the flight is. This is REALLY distracting for me. Much more so than the white flights, which pretty much look the same all the time, even when worn.

I use three different colors, usually black, red and blue, and I always throw them in the same order. This has two different benefits. You can sort out on which throw you lost your concentration after the fact. More importantly, you can employ the benefit of superstition in your darts. For those of us who've tried everything else to no effect, it may help. Who knows?
