I have arrived in Blackpool and the weather just is awful Rolling Eyes . But nevertheless the World Matchplay will start tomorrow and the first round schedule looks like this:

Saturday, 22. July - First Round Best of 19 Legs

    Michael Smith v Steve West
    James Wade v Darren Webster
    Gary Anderson v Christian Kist
    Peter Wright v James Wilson

Sunday, 23. July - First Round Best of 19 Legs

    Afternoon
    Jelle Klaasen v Justin Pipe
    Robert Thornton v Cristo Reyes
Benito van de Pas v Daryl Gurney
    Mensur Suljovic v John Henderson

    Evening
    Dave Chisnall v Mervyn King
    Phil Taylor v Gerwyn Price
Raymond van Barneveld v Joe Cullen
    Kim Huybrechts v Alan Norris

Monday, 24. July - First Round Best of 19 Legs

    Simon Whitlock v Kyle Anderson
    Adrian Lewis v Steve Beaton
Michael van Gerwen v Stephen Bunting
    Ian White v Rob Cross

It is Phil Taylor's last World Matchplay and he's not the easiest of draws. We'll see hwat he still can do.[/quote]

It was an interesting first evening and I felt very sorry for James Wade... He really has no luck at the moment!!! But he plays better and seems to return to form so hopefully he'll be back winning soon.

    So the results were:
    Michael Smith 5:10 Steve West
    James Wade 11:13 Darren Webster
    Gary Anderson 10:7 Christian Kist
    Peter Wright 10:8 James Wilson

The debutants all played well while the players who had been to Las Vegas all looked tired...And Peter Wright really was no good at all.

I am stunned that I can watch it on television in the USA on ELVN.

Cool! I posted something about them not too long ago. Never heard of them before but glad they are carrying it.

I'd never heard of ELVN (Eleven Sports Network) either but my DVR grabbed them. It's great that a US channel is showing it live or slightly tape delayed rather than at least 6 months after the fact and extremely edited. I found their US website and left a comment thanking them for showing darts and asked them to keep up the good work.
