OK, that might be obvious to some but for me, the focus has all too often been to hit the triples, period (an doubles in 01) but I sometimes wondered if working so hard to hit the trips meant I was not focusing enough on the singles?

As I was practicing yesterday I decided to track misses as well as hits in Cricket Count Up and was surprised how often I missed singles. I'd score well but have too many misses. Enough that even on my Pro Trainer I could easily hit in the 30's if I just didn't miss singles.

At one point I managed to hit 5, 5, 5, 3, 3, 5 (all on the pro trainer) and then flatlined on the bull. Sure, with just 3 bulls I'd have only hit 29 but that's not bad at all if you ask me when considering it's a pro trainer.

However, many games I'd hit 4 (one miss), 3 (two misses), 2 (one miss) and so on and leave myself 18 with 7 missed darts! Even hit 20 something with 8 missed darts once! Missing 33% of my darts but scoring well is not the same thing as missing no darts and scoring ok.

So I've reminded myself: it's the missed dummy! So don't miss!
