It is very sad that all we want to do is play darts.

The PADA decided to hold their monthly shoot on Thursday June 25th at the Sellwood Public House.

We had stated that we were going to hold the sign ups for the Summer Singles League at the A&L that night also.

If they would have held these together they could have had an additional 20 players to possibly play in their tourney. Instead they had 14 players.

That could have been at least double what they had if they would have done some communicating on this Tourney.

I don't know, this just seems real sad

The special event WAS scheduled before your signup date (I did tell you this and suggested combining them). Of course, if I was the Special Events director, I would have asked you to have your signups at the event or moved the event.

(Of course, if I wasn't about broke, jobless and worried about losing whatever I have left, I would have probably had the time to help out with all of the singles leagues and tournaments going on... Confused )

Kinda my point Craig, if the special events director would have contacted us we could have more than likely done these together.

It should not be up to you to do everything for the PADA.

I really don't understand why there is such a huge problem with communication.

I am virtually positive that Andy, Christina and myself had picked that day before there were any posters up at pubs, pdf poster on website, or even event listed on website calendar. I do not much doubt that it was after you guys had "picked" the day, but no one here or anywhere would have had any bloody way of knowing that.

Christina made a page on facebook for the signups and summer league, and Andy wrote up league ideas, rules, etc., and there has been talk on this board about it since well before Thomas' singles series even ended.

I understand if a lot of people don't have the time, energy, time, money, motivation or time to do the things that a lot of darters around are asking for - such as the summer league. But it would be great if the people who are not only willing, but literally putting time and energy into something people are asking for, could be allowed to make it as successful as possible.

My two cents. Perhaps not very valuable, but it'll go through your skull if I drop it from the Empire State building.

Craig My point is this, We started to post about doing this sign up night on the June 25 Thursday, around the first week of June.

NOBODY saw anything about the Summer's Here shoot until June 17th. One week before the shoot. THAT IS CRAZY if you think peole will have enough time to go to this in 1 week. Ther was no posting on the calender or anywhere. You did not tell me until the 17th also.

What I am trying to get across is YOU should not have to do everything for the PADA as far as contacting players. Does Roger not have everyones EMAIL? Does PADA have more than 3 people on the board anymore?

This has been going on for quite a while anyway.

I believe the main reason you had a great turnout for leagues is so many softtip players decieded to play.

Right now on the PADA website's calender there is NO MONTHLY SHOOT for either August, or even JULY!!!!!

Right there is my point. NOTHING PLANNED.

I am not trying to start a fued or war with the PADA.

I just wanna play DARTS, thats it nothing else.

    My 2 Cent!!!

That's what I am talking about since a while!!! I in person was the one who figured this out. It was about 1-2 weeks after Christina, Andy and Isaac were sitting in the A&L for first ideas!

No, it won't. Ever watch Mythbusters? Laughing

From what I've heard, PADA is in a transition right now - new Board members will likely be in place soon. This string and others here in SEWA would probably be good feedback for them, but I'm not sure any of them are here. Another communication issue?

The current board members have done a helluva lot for PADA for a long time and I, for one, appreciate it. If significant changes are desired, the near future may bring good chances. But I think we'll need to wait for that changing of the guard.

Transition or not lately or for several months there have definietly been a few snags as to the presentation of events, and their planning, or lack there of.

The PADA board has done many good things, that is for sure. What I am trying to get across is what has been happening lately as to the trying of anything new that has been brought up to the board.

Thomas S asked for their assistance in the singles, and was told the PADA was not interested. Eventually Craig did post the listing on the PADA website.

This summer the PADA once again was not interested in a singles league. The reasoning was that last summer there were some problems with a few persons not attending. Maybe we will have some trouble this time also, but for the most part people are willing to take the chance and play.

24 people are willing to do it this summer.

My issue is in order to grow you need to take chances. Whats the worst that can happen??

If you don't get enough people, you just cancel it. But at least you tried.

The stated reason from CraigB was that he didn't have time to run it.

I've been wondering for a while why anyone cares if PADA is involved in these shoots. Thomas's shoot was a great success - a good concept and well executed. How would it have been any better if PADA was involved? Just that the responsibility would've been dumped off on CraigB instead of Thomas (who conceived it)?

The reason I am bringing up these issues is that I am hoping that the PADA would become more involved in these type of shoots.

Doing new and different things is always good.

Whether or not you succeed, should not be the reason for not doing it.

Events like the ones we are talking about are self generating, meaning the PADA does not have to put money in to them. I would have to say these events have had a better response than the ones put on by the PADA during this same time.

The main reason why I was trying to get PADA involved was to make it more official in regards of possibilities to ADO. We would have been able to use it for qualifiers etc.. I don't care if PADA is involved or not, but as Andy already mentioned it is sad that nobody is willing to take the chance for something new.

I am done with questioning the way PADA does things, and hope that they get people that will be looking to try to inprove all aspects of Steeltip here in town.

Hoping for all the best in the up coming election and communicating with the new board.

Well done. And questioning things is usually good - leads to reform, innovation, etc. It was never my intention to hinder that.

Btw, I'm glad to see you more and more involved in steel tip here, Andy.

Brilliant quote...Thanks for posting...makes one think...Good Luck to all in current 'Campbell/Oakley Singles Summer League'. Hope it becomes an annual Summer event. It is a great prelude to the PADA Fall League. Thank you both very much for your efforts. I'm not playing in this, but never-the-less I'll keep tabs. You guys will have a blast. Thanks again.

I have edited my last post to reflect my actual position.

At this time I am assisting the PADA in their activities.

CraigB I would have to say you deserve a break.

Now you can work on your game when you have some time, but I think you are going to be busy with your new venture, And again Good Luck.

That's quite impressive, Andy. Most people just want to complain and hope someone else fixes it. You're taking action. I'll raise a glass and toast to you tonight while I'm drinking beer (quietly).

    Thanks JohnP.

I believe that with my experience in softtip (over 10 years) will allow me to bring a different but very similiar approach to helping the PADA move ahead in some new events, leagues, in what ever way I can help.

As with any new group of people, I believe that there is a lot of energy and new ideas just waiting to show what can be done in the Portland area dart scene.
