I am thinking of running a one day tournament this upcoming March, I'll have a flier and let everyone know about it soon enough, but I have somethings bouncing around my head.

I am thinking of two formats, either 5 events, or 3 events.

    5 Event Format

-301 Singles DIDO, Best of 3, Double Elimination
    -Doubles Cricket\501\Choice
    -Cricket Singles, Best of 3
    -501 Singles, Best of 3
    - LOD

    3 Event Format

    -Draw Doubles (LOD) Double Elimination
    -Cricket Singles, Best of 3
-501 Singles, Best of 3, Quarter Finals Best of 5, Semi's Best of 7 and Final Best of 9

Just looking for like a vote I guess so I can see what format might be the better favored. I've run a few with the 5 format and were ok, but not as good as I wanted them to be.

With me possibly getting area sponsors and board sponsors I hope to have enough prize money to get the singles ADO certified. My target location is a Moose Lodge, so cheep drink and good atmosphere.

    Thanks for your feed back.

In for a penny, in for a pound. It also offers more chances for people to join in after a half day working or playing Soccer Dad.

It doesn't HAVE to be an odd number of events you know! Razz

I'd think something like this would be good:

    Cricket singles
Open doubles (501/cricket - cork calls, etc.)
    501 singles
    LOD

The first event should get most people into the hall on time (some might choose to sleep in instead of playing your 301 singles), next it gives people who aren't strong in singles a chance to play doubles, then the marque event (501 singles) followed by the usual LOD for all of those players who didn't get enough darts earlier in the day.

If you do the timing right you'll have people around to help you break down the boards too. Wink

The four game format would be good, I can agree with the 301 singles part, but in the area, more people would show up for a Draw Doubles rather than an open doubles. I've gotten the arguement that Sawyer and Russell could show up together for the doubles and no one would waste there money.

IDK thanks for the feedback and I'll be letting you all know about the tourney in the near future.

Ok, now I'm confused... On the original event list you have Doubles listed and LOD (which usually means "draw doubles"). So now you're saying that you shouldn't have the Doubles?

    Maybe you should have:

    Cricket singles
    LOD
    501 singles
    Another LOD?

I know they wouldn't, I'd welcome a good challenge its the only way I am going to keep growing as a darter, since I am still pretty new to the game, and thats why I thought about it and I want to do the doubles (non-draw) and a LOD.
