OK, so Shot Darts was awesome enough to send me another set of darts to play around with and tell you about and I have to admit, I love that :D So thanks for reading and commenting on all my review posts! It really helps and heck I give away all these great darts in the end anyway so as long as these reviews get some attention, I'll keep giving away darts ;) but I have to admit, it's getting hard with these sweet Shot's! (pun intended).

I picked up the Shot Viking Hammers and tossed them at the board and within just a few tosses I hit this. OK, I know, it's not a 180 but darn it if that last dart wasn't the T1! COME ON! I really let that one drift away but I have taken the summer off for the most part ;)

I moved them around the board and felt confident that I could play well with these.

Not a deadeye but I'm an honest guy and I don't hit deadeyes every day! If I did I'd be a pro ;) But what I can tell you is that the darts go where they are supposed to, as long as I actually toss them there (any error in trajectory is purely the fault of the throwee ;) )

I was getting comfortable with these darts and despite the slightly different barrel than I'm used to I found myself thinking "ok, 180's are headed my way!" and that my friends is important in a dart.

and then there it was :) A big fat 180 to top off the first session of playing with the Shot Viking Hammers. Heck, after a summer off I was thinking it might take longer to stick three in the 'Red Bit' but there it was. It was as if Shot just knew what to do in making a dart like this that would have the right grip, barrel shape and feel to go where you tell them too. Sure, the Rei's and Yu's are more my style of dart but this Hammer was definitely hammering away at good shots and I was feeling darn good about it.

Today I pulled them out, tossed a few, set up my phone (no professional video here) and decided to throw a little. I was really interested in seeing my throw/form more than anything but then this happened (after a very short warmup) and I decided to share:

So you see these really fly nicely through the air and into that Triple 20 like they were meant to do. These vikings are really quite nice and folks and I recommend giving them a try!

A very impressive looking dart. Shot really seems to be leading the way in quality and innovation lately.

As the owner of the previously reviewed Shot darts the quality is astounding. If I struggle with the Yu model it is because they are not really the barrel shape that I prefer. Looking at the Hammer specs on the Shot site these would be more likely my style. I look forward to hearing more about them. Thanks to Shot darts and thanks Erik!

How are these arrows flying? Are you still getting to toss them a bit?

    Funny you should ask ;)

They are great darts and I planned a follow up review as soon as I could get it done. Shot a nice 171 with them playing some cricket count up and more 180's. All in all a great dart and I might just send your way to have you review if interested?

Absolutely I’d be willing. Although I’m not sure how qualified I am.

Reviewing darts is more about the writing and willingness to try to take an honest approach to the darts and less so about how good you are at sticking them in the board ;) Anyone can hit 180's, not everyone can explain why they like a particular dart ;)

If you’re confident in me I’d be happy! Might not be happy with having to let them go in a giveaway

My last thoughts on these great darts: well, they are great ;) Truth is I was tossing them back in August and really enjoying the feel of the dart but had to do other things and got away from posting on the site! Sorry!
The shot above was typical of what I was doing at the time, just laying those suckers right on the wire and thinking "well, 1/8th of an inch lower is where I want them!" but I wasn't putting them there like I think I should be. Still, they felt great!

So I dropped to the bottom of the board thinking, if high, drop and stick them in the 19 silly!

and that is what I did :)

These great darts definitely have a nice feel to them and I enjoyed throwing them.

Truth is, I don't go into detail on the measurements, weights and balance of a dart in a review; other guys do that ;) Instead, I try to tell you what I think of the dart, how it feels in the hand, how it throws etc. We can all look up the darts specifics on the manufacturer's site anyway ;) so I figure telling you my thoughts about the dart has more value and my thoughts on these darts is simple: nice dart. You can't go wrong with a set of them and I encourage everyone to give Shot a try!

    Cheers

I received these babies yesterday and will get them suited up and tuned up and get throwing...hopefully a bit today. I look forward to sharing my thoughts on them! Thanks to Shot for sharing their darts and Erik for sharing the opportunity to give my review!

Well here goes! I’m gonna try to go about this as I used to with golf clubs so many years ago.
I did get to toss the Shot Viking Hammers a bit yesterday. I didn’t really try anything in particular but rather just tossed them at the board. Very striking appearance, a golden hue with machined patterns separated into the front and back of the barrel. The front a sort of tic tac toe pattern and the back half more ringed. In addition to looks they are functional in that the front grip does not hold the fingers during the “drive” phase of the throw when the thrust comes from the ringed tail half. Thumb and forefinger fit just perfectly on the ringed back part of a mildly bomb shape.
I’m still tuning them to my stroke but, they certainly seem to fly straight. I generally like a longer and heavier dart so it is a bit challenging to find the right setup with these. So far my hats off to Shot again for these. I’ll post some photos and maybe of slo-mo of their flight once I get them tailored!
    Cheers

After having some more time with the Viking Hammer model from Shot darts, they will not disappoint! The final setup I had with them was a medium nylon shaft and retina flight. This seemed to get them to stay fairly level in flight. I wanted to include a slomo video here but because of the file size I think I’ll have to post in media. Here is a photo of the last 3 of that video.

Today I suted them with the Shot flights that come with the darts. Mostly because my groupings were getting much tighter I was having to pick up flights too often. Erik had punched the ones in the set(or they were sent that way) so I put the rings in and started back at it. Did some CCU to move around the board a bit and here’s some of the results.

As has been the case starting shortly free tossing them the grouping is pretty comfortable and easy. The darts have a pleasant feel to them. I believe that virtually anyone who plays with them will quite quickly surmise how THEY should hold and toss this dart. It’s compact barrel in some degree makes it feel as if one were tossing a marble of the same mass. In my himblest of opinions, I think this dart delivers the looks and performance for beginners to pros! Thanks again to Shot darts for giving us the chance to talk about their products and also for making a great product. Thanks to Erik for the site the we all enjoy and for giving me the opportunity to talk about these!
    Cheers and happy darting!
