I'm trying to put together a one-day charity dart tournament in my area with proceeds going to Multiple Sclerosis (my wife has MS). I've noticed most of the flyers and templates I've seen pretty much look very similar. I was just wondering if any of you have ever used a specific template to create your flyer or do you just do it from scratch? Any advice and pointers would be wonderful! :)

I forgot to reply to this one but I was able to get a flier put together. I think it turned out really well. We also got shirts made for the tournament. I posted it on social media and the outpouring of support has been amazing. The event is giving proceeds to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I've had shirt orders come in as far away as New York and Cincinnati! We've had several companies donate raffle prizes and a local distillery even donated bottles of Vodka to be given away as 1st place trophies for the singles events! The tournament is this Saturday in Nashville. If any of you are in the area, come join in on the fun!

Here's a link to the flier:

We have decided to make this an annual event. Hopefully it will grow each year. My goal is to eventually make it a weekend long tournament with a moderate guaranteed purse. Nothing big. Maybe $2500 - $5000. We already have a huge tournament every year (The Music City Classic) with a purse of over $20,000. Due to the size that's it's become and how it brings in the top players from around the country, some of the local players avoid it and are intimidated by it's size. So I want a slightly smaller tournament to get those players more involved again. Let's hope this works.

I feel like we've done all of the initial work to get everything prepared. My wife and I have checked and double checked to make sure we've covered everything. Plus we have a great crew of very experienced people helping out. Now, the main thing will be to make sure everything runs smoothly and ON TIME! I think one of the biggest complaints I hear at tournaments are when they run way behind schedule. I'm going to try my best to not let that happen.

Note: If you want to just post like I did above, use your snipping tool (you probably have it in Windows, just search for Snipping Tool) and you can capture it right off the screen and paste in here :) I love this feature!

When you do an upload, at the bottom will be an option to add a thumbnail or full image. For large ones like this a thumbnail is best. I edited it for you to add the image :)

Lots of cool new features now :) and more to come! If you look at your screen, under your name there is even an option to upgrade (for very little) to a paid membership ($10 per year) that even gives you a gallery page to upload and share images from :) and an option to not see any google ads too! ;)

No worries :) You'll get there. Heck, I'm still learning about what we can do here LOL it's amazing and so scalable that much more will come as we move forward!

I thought I'd give an update on the event I had (above) on Saturday. This was just a one day event at a local bar. We were really hoping we could draw around 30 people for the event. Well... we blew that out of the water! We had 48 entries in the very first event (Mixed Doubles) and the crowd grew from there. The place was packed! Not only that, but when we arrived to set up there were a bunch of items piled up on a table in the back. There was a huge rolling Budweiser cooler full of shirts, glassware, a scarf, hats and coozies. There was a Land Shark guitar, a backpack full of shirts, glassware and coozies, and several Crown Royal bags each with a shirt and stuff in them. There were 3 with Women's shirts and 3 with men's. There was also this HUGE poker chip set with cards and dice in a giant metal briefcase that had Budweiser on the outside. The bar manager said, "Oh yeah, that's all for y'all to raffle off! Our beer rep dropped it all off last night for the charity!" We were blown away. We already had quite a few raffle items and this just sweetened the pot!

TL/DR: We ended up raising over $1700 for the National MS Society! The event ran a little behind just due to the sheer number of entries (there were only 13 boards), but for the most part we tried to keep it on time as much as possible. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

We were already planning to make this an annual event and were hoping to eventually make this into a bigger, weekend event with a pre-posted purse in maybe two or three years. Well, because of the turnout for this event, we feel that if it were to grow at all next year, the current venue (which is about the biggest dart bar in town) won't be able to hold the capacity. We are already planning to make it a weekend event held at a hotel next year! I'm blown away by the response we received. We had players driving all the way from Alabama to the event and I had shirt orders come in all the way from New York and Cincinnati wanting to support the cause! Dart players are the best, most generous people!
