This is just a little reminder to everyone, to please keep on topic in all threads. It's alright to talk, but make sure it's on the topic of the post, not taking a 90 degree turn and go off on some funny tale. Save all that stuff for the blah, blah, blah threads.

It seems almost every post I go to, you really can't tell what the topic is, unless you go to the very beginning.

So please folks, try to stay on topic, show a little respect to the person starting the thread, as they post it for a reason.

Thanks to all for understanding, I am sure everyone will do their best to correct this on going problem.

It does happen way to often, but in some cases its hard to control when people are commenting or debating someones thoughts about the topic which leads to off topic conversations.
I would like to think that people don't do it on purpose, but that might be the case considering this is like the third time something like this is being annouced.

A lot of the "chatting" can be done via PM's and not in the threads.

There is a chatroom too....it's been pretty quiet in there lately.

I tried to push the chatroom a month ago. It worked for a few days but then it fizzled quickly.

There is a balance-and we don't want to lose the flavor of debate and civilized contention,if you have a story to add, bring it all back to the thread at hand and I don't believe the Mods will have to get out our edit finger. Thanks to all who post and contribute, this is an issue of respect for the person who starts the thread and not an attack on all that respond in kind.Thanx again.

From the various forums I have seen, thread hijacking is very common - its how yo handle it that matters.... I have seen some where the forum management take a heavy hand to it and start banning people and other s where they just have a 'back to topic' post.....

I would like to remind everybody here of this problem.

Reading the now locked thread ... what´s your choice...by Anne I can´t see we´ve solved it.

Whatever you think of a post or a poster when you answer please stick to the topic.
Should you not be interested you don´t have to answer at all!!!

And should you look for a place to pay someone back for please use pm or e-mail. There´s no place to have it out in forum posts!

Hyjacking a thread is changing the subject of the thread, going off topic completely -- in case there is doubt.

It is something I've always tried to prevent though I also find myself doing it sometimes.

If we each try not to do it, and remind each other periodically, we can keep threads on track and the site will benefit :)

Some sites I go to they slam you for hyjacking...just saying ;)

What we have to be careful of is when there is disagreement in a thread. That doesn't mean it is hijacked. That has been happening lately. Some people getting miffed because people disagree with them. That is not hijacking.

Agreed. Disagreements are not hijacking, as long as the disagreement is on the same subject.

Wow, that took a long time to answer.
