22 today but with only 2 missed darts. Happy with that as it is a big improvement in cinxistantcy
25 - still fighting a bad throw because of an injured shoulder but it's going a little better.
I should mention that was on the Pro Trainer
After a dismal few months I am starting to see my averages tighten up and rise again. Lots of work to do but getting there!
It's been a while and a fight! My neck injury really caused me trouble but I'm finally starting to feel like things are going in the right direction. I've been shooting CCU in 9 game series and calculating my average over the games with my goal of averaging above 3mpr (for now). My latest was 2.79 seen here:
but it's taken work just to get there!
Going back several weeks you can see I had a low point of 1.89. That was NOT a good day and while I often get close to 3mpr I've yet to hit it over 9 games.
Here is a graph of my progress. At least you can see it's rising! LOL
I should note that some days I do this 3 or 4 times and yesterday I did 4 of these and two so far today. Today was the first time all my games (18 so far) did not sink to below 2mpr so I felt that was a positive note. I have much work to do considering I used to be very mad if I dropped to 3mpr and expected myself to average in the 3.57 to 4.28 range.....
Things are definitely improving! WhooHoo! It's a good feeling.
I was only able to shoot 8 games as work just got in the way but I'll take that 3.0 since I was shooting well. Even the 14 wasn't as bad as it looks (to me) because it was so many just on the wrong side of the trip I knew I could get it back into it. Nice groups, feeling good and hit a lot of nice rounds....now to continue the trend!
I just got picked up by an A team for Spring. I haven't played A since I lost everything! Looks like I need to hit the boards and get back in shape. I did a quick 100@20's and ended up with... 51! (LOL!) Very few in the 20's pie. I played a singles blind draw two weeks ago and had "moments" (a 180, 171, 162, a 9-count and a 16-dart 501 leg - wiring the 107 out for a 15), but didn't finish any of the legs when I had the darts against the two strongest players... I'm destroying the weak and letting the strong off the hook - THAT needs to change if I play in A without any "weak" to take advantage of - heh...
It's a tough go to get it back, I KNOW! Good luck, you'll find the darts again!
Still at it but not improving as fast as I'd like
So after 225 games of cricket count up I'm starting to see games int he 3 to 3.5mpr range but only averaging around 2.7mpr over a 9 leg/game stretch still (actually, just did the math and the last 7 sessions averaged 2.703mpr).
I'm definitely improving as I'm hitting a lot of bigger shots to stay in the hunt for an average over 3mpr but can see I'm still just shy of the mark. Once I hit 3mpr I'll start working on 3.5
While working on my throw and concentrating on bringing my arm in front of me more I started shooting much nicer groups Shot an 'ok' 23 in CC and started my next run. Was doing fine with 3mpr to the 15 where I dropped 2 darts into the 2 and then did this to finish at 22
A little better view
It isn't that I haven't hit plenty of these, I've long since lost count but lately I've really struggled so I was pretty stoked to stick them all in there so neatly today
Gotta get back to working on the garage/shop cleanup etc but who knows, maybe I've cracked the code to my troubles of late!
On a side note, who knows what board this is? LOL I was going to give it to someone (maybe Cannibal) a long time ago but just plumb forgot and found it sitting on a shelf so stuck it up for a change of pace
Nothing to write home about but shot some CCU today and after starting out like a champ (for me these days) with 27 and only dropping to the low 20's after a few rounds the phone rang and I hit and 18 and an 11 Finally got back to it and finished my 9 games at 2.6mpr. Not stellar but better than the 2mpr I was averaging lately. I think I'm almost back with my old throw mostly returned and a lot less issue with dartitis so with luck and practice I can return to hitting in the 4's again! (he wishes lol)
I wish too. Still slumping. I think most days I’d be ecstatic with 2.5 mpr. Good luck.
Spent about 30 minutes in a couple sessions today and averaged 19.3(2.4mpr). Pretty miserable knowing how I used to shoot. So frustrating to shoot 11 Still a little better than I’ve been doing lately.
LOL as many of you know I've had some medical/physical issues preventing me from playing or even practicing darts....but of late I've had some improvements and picked up a set of my kids darts and tossed a 25 in CCU 2nd time around Now if only I could maintain some practice....ahhh well, maybe some day.
Nice!!! Fun to throw something out of the norm now and then. Maybe after a lay-off you’ll find your new mechanics and perhaps comfort. Hope you can keep at it!
LOL not really out of the norm for me 13 years ago but yes. I haven't even shot any practice in some time but I noticed my mechanics were back to normal a week or so ago and started to let them do their thing. I'd pick up the darts, toss them for 5 minutes and walk away....can you call that practice? LOL Anyway, no movement in the body, good solid position, no dips, yips etc and good grouping too...oh and I'm now wearing glasses which may help too.
I just played in the blind draw at the Portland Open last Friday. First event I've been in since January. Saw a lot of old people and got to give Rainman some crap.
Although I did have some "moments" like taking out a 132 warming up (DB, DB, D16) along with hitting a 171 and a 180, I just wasn't consistent enough to help take my partner into the money (we died at top-8...). I had a chance to take out 116 for us to advance but hit a D19 after hitting the T19 (too fat!), unfortunately my partner missed the D8 I left him. I will say I was happy with my grouping, however the placement needed some work (I hit seven three's and seven one's for example).
I was also reminded why I'm glad I don't run tournaments anymore when one of those lovely scenes of drama happened. No thanks!
Seven hours of standing and throwing was WAAAY more than body was ready for so I didn't play in any of the main events.
Craig kind of makes the point I was going to make. 5 minutes is definitely practice if that’s what you can accomplish. So long as you take pride in each dart and have some purpose(which may just be a “no hitch” delivery) it is productive. I for one am glad to have you mention tossing again! Glasses have screwed me a bit cause they’re progressive lenses. I think I should get a pair of single vision for distance and I’ll fair better.
I am using Progressives myself but they aren't quite right (The VA did them) and I am going to a civilian eye doc today to get better ones.
Rainman is really playing well these days, though he likes 'Cool Hand Luke' now lol
