Ok, so I may avoid using the "toy" darts, but my business partner's son (the 7 year-old) wants a dart board. My business partner wants to avoid steel-tips until the kid is older, so I'm looking for some good recommendations. Probably a bit better than the $13 low-end, but nowhere's near the $3,800 high-end!

    TIA!

I was a soft tipper for years. My practice board was a Halex electronic dartboard I got at Walmart on sale for less than $20. I played on it almost every day for about 3 years. The only reason I stopped using it was I got a newer, more expensive, board that turned out to be worse and less reliable. It took a couple weeks of constant play to get the Halex board broken in. After that the bounce outs where less common. The electronics and display were easy to read and easy to use. Especially for a 7 year old. If you're spending more than $40, you're wasting money.

Great, thanks! I forwarded the info along. I'm sure he will like that cheaper is good enough!
