I'm not sure what this fascination is with nine darts... I throw at least nine darts in all my 501 legs!

9 darters are easy. Just throw nine and stop! Or play 51 instead! I threw a 7 dart game once. Those seven were so bad I didn’t see the point of throwing any more

Sometimes I just stop trying to do anything specific other than hitting T20's or bulls and zone out and just let them go. I often find a good groove that way and it helps to refocus

And now I've just depressed myself by realizing how long it's been since I've even had a shot at a 9-darter... About 10 years ago! And that was a weird one. Started with 171, 174 (realized with last dart that I didn't want 159 left and switched to 20's - LOL). Next dart? Fat 5. Oh well...

The attempt prior to that was in 2005 and had the "common" start (heh) of 180, 180. Missed the 7th dart there too... I still remember where I was and who I was playing for both though.

For the rest of my chances you have to go back to 1990 and before (eight tries after starting 180, 180). Only once did I hit the 7th triple and that was against John Witted Jr. at the $106,000 Ultimate Challenge in Vegas, 1985 - finished with S19, T10, D16 - then got so excited that I wired everything over the next two legs and lost the match! Made $3,780 for top-8 too. Should have been a lot more!

I envy you both. I’ve never had the opportunity and for me I have to think back to the early 90’s and I can’t say for sure but my best was probably in the mid teens. Never a 180 when it counted and such. Like BH says, I’m evolving. Best is yet to come as I approach 50!

Never had back to back 180s but had lots of 180, 140 or 140, 180 starts. Usually finished those in 10 to 12 darts. Never hit a 9 darter.

Unfortunately, I also had a lot of spectacular failures! I remember a "last leg" that they left on the scoreboard... My side read 180, 140, something, something, something, something, something, something, something, something, X (and, no, I never did hit that D1!).

On the flip side, I have had some other really nice games that didn't have 9-dart pressure. In 2007 I went 180, 125, 180, D8 (naturally I threw it against some n00b that a 30 darter would have been sufficient - oh well!).

Then there's three weeks ago when I was still above 400 after 15 darts! That's hard to do if you think about it. I beat the heck out of the single 7's and 3's in that leg... Three of those five scores were "lucky" 13!

Shot this practice again today and despite a rather nice start (3 T20's in the first 4 throws -- I didn't say 'stellar' start, just nice LOL) I dropped off for a run before hitting a T19 and finally the last T20's to get me to D12 in 51 darts and taking 2 to hit it leaving me at 53 darts overall.

Truth is, if you can average 100ppt it should, on average, take about 27 darts to do this give or take....consider that you should be hitting 1 T20 in 3 darts on average to do that. At my best I could do that but today, it happens, just not very often LOL

I shot this today too and saw a little improvement. Made it in 44 darts today. I too had a nice start with T20 in 4 turns and then went off the rails a while. Lots of T5 and T1 so I was happy with the way the dart was flying. Like 7 turns before I caught another T20. 14th turn went T20,T19 and just outside wire on D12. Then 2 more on the next turn. I really like this game! Thanks BH!

39 for me today. First 4 turns were not so good, the usual 26’s then 140,140,100, 80, 80. 2 turns on the t19 and d12.

    After a horrible slump I think I'm coming back :) Hit a 140, then a 125 and by 18 darts had my 7 T20's :D took to 24darts to hit the T19 and D12 but I made it :D
